Called Vanish Mode in the app, all you have to do is swipe up inside a chat in order to turn on disappearing messages. Now all your messages, videos, and gifs will disappear once you close out of the app. The mode also supports screenshot notifications.

With your permission, some Google and third-party apps can access your messages to provide seamless companion experiences like when you restore your messages to a new phone or app, or when you send message notifications to your home device, smartwatch, or car.
You can make your messages even more secure with the use of Secret Conversation's timer option. Tap the clock icon in the text box and choose how long you would like your message to last. Your choices range from one day to five seconds. When the time runs out the messages delete themselves and disappear.
When you're in an encrypted chat, you can still use GIFs, stickers, reactions, and long-press to reply or forward messages. Encrypted chats also now support verified badges so that people can identify authentic accounts. And although you can save media exchanged in encrypted chats, a screenshot notification is rolling out in Q1 2022. That means, like with Snapchat, you'll get a notification if someone screenshots your conversation in an encrypted chat.
End-to-end encryption, when it comes to chats, means only the sender and receiver of any given message will be able to see the contents of said message.
